Produced by Kiran Rao, Aamir Khan, and Jyoti Deshpande, Laapataa Ladies features a cast of fresh faces, including Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastav, Chhaya Kadam, and Ravi Kishan. The film is based on an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami, with a screenplay and dialogue by Sneha Desai. Additional dialogues were written by Divyanidhi Sharma.
The film had its international debut at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last year and was released in Indian theatres on March 1. Though it didn’t achieve blockbuster box office success, Laapataa Ladies received widespread critical acclaim and gained a dedicated fanbase after its release on Netflix.
With its unique storytelling and strong performances, Laapataa Ladies has been applauded by both audiences and critics, positioning it as a strong contender on the global stage for the 2025 Academy Awards.
