KL Rahul notched a century in the second day of the boxing day test match against South Africa. Interestingly, he had achieved the same feat in the boxing test match held between the 2 teams 2 years prior to this match in the same stadium.
The century in 2021 earned him the man of the match trophy as it helped India secure a 113-run victory. Back then he played as an opener alongside Karnataka batsman Mayank Aggarwal.
Currently he has secured a spot in the middle order. When he entered the crease, India were in a spot of bother having lost 4 wickets for the loss of 92 runs. Kohli too was caught by the keeper to a ball from Rabada shortly after KL Rahul entered the crease. Rahul stitched meaningful partnerships with the lower order to take India to a resectable total of 245.
His knock of 101 consisted of 14 fours and 4 sixes. He was not bogged down by the loss of wickets on the other end and maintained a positive approach and grabbed onto the opportunities presented in terms of loose deliveries. He was bowled out by South African pacer Nandre Burger and his wicket brought an end to India’s first innings.
