Constructed at a cost of ₹37 crore, the bridge is part of a project commemorating the silver jubilee of the Thiruvalluvar statue’s unveiling by late Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. It not only serves as a visual marvel but also as a practical alternative to the ferry service that previously connected the two sites.

Built to withstand the region’s challenging marine environment, the bridge’s durable design resists corrosion from salty sea air and high humidity. This blend of strength and aesthetics ensures longevity and safety while retaining its striking appearance.

The bridge, inaugurated with a walk by the Chief Minister himself, is expected to boost tourism by providing a modern and scenic route between these cultural landmarks.
