Authorities clarify it is because of model code of conduct

Amid concerns sparked by AstraZeneca’s admission regarding a potential link between its Covishield vaccine and Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS), Indians scrutinized their vaccination certificates, only to discover a notable absence. The once prominent photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which had stirred controversy three years prior, was conspicuously missing from digital certificates.

On social media platform X, users expressed surprise and speculated about the sudden alteration, attributing it to recent revelations regarding Covishield’s association with rare blood clotting conditions. However, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare swiftly addressed the matter, clarifying that the removal of PM Modi’s image was due to the Model Code of Conduct in place for ongoing Lok Sabha polls.

This development comes in the wake of AstraZeneca’s acknowledgment in a UK court regarding the potential for its Covid-19 vaccine to cause TTS, a rare side effect characterized by blood clots and low platelet levels. Despite reassurances from the company regarding patient safety, concerns persist, especially as Covishield constitutes a significant portion of India’s vaccination drive.

However, experts emphasize that such side effects are exceedingly rare, with only a minute fraction of recipients experiencing adverse reactions. As scrutiny intensifies and vaccination efforts continue, vigilance and transparency remain paramount in addressing public health concerns.
