The Kodava National Council (CNC) has filed a complaint with the National Commission for Women (NCW), demanding strict action against the legislator.

The controversy began when Ganiga criticized Mandanna for allegedly skipping the Bengaluru International Film Festival despite her Kannada film industry roots. His remarks that she "must be taught a lesson" have sparked outrage, with many seeing them as an act of intimidation.
CNC President Nandineda Nachappa condemned the MLA’s statements, calling them unconstitutional and a direct attack on Mandanna, who belongs to the sensitive tribal Kodava community. He urged the NCW to take suo moto action against Ganiga, stating that threats against a woman, especially from a lawmaker, set a dangerous precedent.
Mandanna, known for her roles in Pushpa: The Rise and Kirik Party, has not publicly responded to the controversy. However, her supporters and community leaders have rallied behind her, demanding accountability for the MLA’s remarks. The CNC insists that the issue goes beyond Mandanna, as such threats undermine the dignity and rights of the entire Kodava community.
The NCW is yet to respond to the complaint, but calls for action against Ganiga continue to grow.
