For the first time in its 92-year history, the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) Dam has achieved a record-breaking milestone, storing its maximum water level of 124 feet for an unprecedented 156 consecutive days. This achievement has brought immense relief and happiness to farmers in the region, ensuring adequate water for summer crops.

As of now, the water level stands at 124.30 feet, slightly below the maximum capacity of 124.80 feet, with a storage of 48.754 TMC compared to the dam's full capacity of 49.452 TMC. This exceptional water storage performance has eased concerns about drought and agricultural challenges in the upcoming months.

Minister Chaluvarayaswamy addressed critics who have expressed doubts about the state's water management under Congress leadership. He dismissed claims that the state would face a drought if Congress were in power, emphasizing that this year’s record-breaking achievement is a testament to effective governance and nature’s favour. "The KRS dam's performance speaks for itself," the minister said, adding that this is a year unlike any other in the dam’s history.

Farmers have hailed the record as a blessing, expressing optimism for a prosperous harvest season. The sustained water levels underscore the importance of the KRS Dam as a lifeline for Karnataka's agriculture and drinking water supply.
