During a city-wide inspection, Mr. Somanna reviewed key projects, including upgrades at Whitefield, Hoodi Halt, Carmelaram, and Bellandur stations. At Bellandur, he emphasized the urgent need to resolve rainwater drainage issues and assessed the ongoing doubling works.
At Level Crossing 134, the Minister inspected plans for a Road Over Bridge (ROB) and suggested additional vents for the Panathur bridge to improve connectivity. He also confirmed that portions of the ambitious Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP) will be operational by March 2027, while the quadrupling of the Bengaluru Cantonment–Whitefield line remains on schedule.
To ease congestion, Somanna announced plans for a 280-km Circular Railway project and a new terminal at Devanahalli, which will enhance capacity and improve connectivity for the growing city.
The upgrades and new infrastructure aim to modernize Bengaluru’s railway network and accommodate increasing passenger demands in one of India’s fastest-growing metropolitan areas.
