In a major development for job seekers, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is set to recruit for nearly 9,000 posts in the coming days. Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy confirmed that the recruitment process for 7,500 posts has already been completed, and applications for the remaining vacancies will be invited soon.

Marking the end of an eight-year recruitment gap, the state government recently appointed 2,000 drivers and conductors through a transparent, merit-based selection process. The recruitment was initially announced in 2020 but was delayed due to the pandemic. Over 25,000 candidates applied, and appointments were made following driving tests and document verification.
Additionally, 300 technical assistant posts were filled, and allocations to various divisions have been completed. Minister Reddy also revealed that 209 dependents of deceased employees were appointed on compassionate grounds in the past year, with over 1,000 such appointments made across four transport corporations.
In a significant welfare move, the state has announced Rs 1 crore compensation for families of KSRTC drivers who die in accidents and Rs 10 lakh for those who pass away due to natural causes.
Minister Reddy urged newly appointed personnel to serve with dedication, ensure safety, and treat passengers—especially women and students—with respect.
Eligible candidates with SSLC, PUC, or degree qualifications can apply for the upcoming recruitment drive.
