In a tragic development amidst the ongoing rescue operations following the massive landslides in Kerala's Wayanad district, the bodies of two Kannadigas, identified as Divya and her son Lakshmith, were found in Chooralmala. The discovery adds to the mounting death toll in the region, which has surpassed 300.

Divya and Lakshmith's bodies were recovered as rescue teams continued their search efforts in the aftermath of the devastating landslides triggered by relentless heavy rainfall. Their deaths have brought a somber reminder of the human cost of this natural disaster.
During a recent visit to the affected areas, Rahul Gandhi met with Divya’s mother-in-law, Mahadevamma. Gandhi offered his condolences and provided words of comfort to Mahadevamma, who is now grappling with the loss of her loved ones.
The landslides have caused widespread devastation in Wayanad, flattening homes and displacing countless families. Rescue operations have entered their fourth day, with authorities utilizing advanced technologies, including drone-based radar, to locate and rescue survivors trapped under the debris.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has expressed deep sorrow over the incident and assured that the government is extending all possible support to the affected families. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims. We are committed to providing immediate relief and long-term rehabilitation to those impacted," he stated.
As the community mourns the loss of Divya and Lakshmith, rescue efforts continue in a race against time to find more survivors amidst the rubble.
