Congress spokesperson Lavanya Ballal Jain has been trending on social media after a TV debate with BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala had become viral wherein she took offence to the latter referring to her as Lavanya BJ. “I think from now on the lesson has been learnt - World’s largest Democratic Party should not be called abbreviations that you yourself cannot handle. Now let’s move on from LavanyaBJ - I know this isn’t in my or your control & it’s spontaneous outburst of people on SM towards the arrogance, ignorance of the congress spokesperson but let us now have the bigger heart & ignore her,” Shehzad posted after Lavanya BJ started trending on X (formerly known as Twitter).

She stated that the trend is a reflection of BJP’s attitude towards other religions and women. “Refusal to acknowledge my religion is an insult to Jainism itself and is a form of bigotry. The entire incident has thrown light to how vulgar the bjp workers are, and how they make it their life’s mission to try and humiliate and degrade women,” she stated.
