Bengaluru witnessed high drama in Kuntlu Reddy Layout, Jigani, after a leopard entered a residential house, triggering panic among locals. The tense situation unfolded early in the morning when tenant Venkatesh spotted the wild cat as he was stepping out of his home. In a quick-thinking move, he immediately shut the door, trapping the leopard inside and ensuring the safety of his family and neighbours.

The leopard, which had been roaming around a nearby building all night, entered Venkatesh’s house, likely in search of shelter. Upon discovering the trapped animal, locals swiftly informed the forest department. A team of officials, along with veterinarians, rushed to the spot with a specialized cage to safely capture the big cat.

The rescue operation lasted nearly four hours. The leopard, frightened and disoriented, had taken refuge under a bed in the bedroom. A specialist veterinarian, Dr. Kiran, administered an anesthetic injection while officials, donning helmets for safety, worked carefully to subdue the animal. Once sedated, the leopard was placed inside the cage and transported away.

The dramatic rescue drew large crowds, prompting police to maintain order and disperse onlookers. Residents praised Venkatesh’s quick action, which helped prevent any injuries. The successful operation by the forest department and police brought relief to the community, with many taking photos to mark the memorable day.
