In a shocking development, Ranya Rao, currently incarcerated at Parappana Agrahara Jail, has sent a letter to the Director General of DRI (Directorate of Revenue Intelligence) alleging police torture and a false case against her. In the letter, Ranya claims she was falsely accused of smuggling 14 kg of gold, a charge she vehemently denies.

Ranya described being subjected to brutal physical and mental abuse by authorities, who allegedly beat her multiple times during interrogation. According to her, the officers provided no reason for the assaults, and she was forced to sign documents under duress, including 40 white papers and several typed statements. Ranya further stated that she was not allowed to sleep or receive proper food before being presented in court.
In her letter, she claimed she had been threatened with exposure of her father’s name to force her into compliance. Ranya asserts her innocence and demands a fair investigation, emphasizing that the authorities denied her the chance to defend herself.
This letter has raised concerns about the treatment of detainees in custody and the methods employed by law enforcement in high-profile cases. The DRI is yet to respond to the serious allegations made in Ranya’s letter.
