Azoca Technologies, A Gandhinagar based IT company founded in 2020 found itself caught in controversy for a job posting that was flagged by netizens for being allegedly discriminatory. 

“Urgent requirement

Data base administrator Experience required: 8 years minimum.

Contract duration: 6 months + extendable.

Must have skills: DBA, Schema design, Data dictionaries, RDS, Prem sql server Hands on exp. in postgress, sql, Must have worked on AWS cloud platform

Shift: Normal shift

Location: Remote.

Require only immediate joiners

No candidates from south (sic),” the job posting stated. 

Netizens expressed outrage over a remote posting having region based exclusion with no clarity if language was a criteria for segregation. 

“Isn’t it blatant discrimination to say no candidates from south?” a LinkedIn user commented. 

“For your information, Bangalore is called the Silicon Valley of the south and then you have Hyderabad and Chennai the next biggest IT Corridors,” another user said. 

“They must have realised that brainwashing a South Indian is very difficult, if not impossible,” another user remarked. 

Whether the job posting was reflective of the company’s policies or was an inadvertent error from the HR personnel who drafted the post remains unclear.
