In a shocking case, a 40-year-old woman was found murdered and stuffed inside a gunny bag, which was discovered in a garbage truck operated by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Sunday. The woman, identified as Asha, was allegedly killed by her live-in partner, 33-year-old Mohammed Shamshuddin, who has since been arrested.
Asha, who worked as a housekeeper with Urban Company, had been in a relationship with Shamshuddin for around 18 months. The police were alerted after sanitation workers found the woman’s body with her hands tied inside a sack. An autopsy was ordered, and a murder case was registered. CCTV footage and other technical evidence led police to Shamshuddin, who reportedly confessed to the crime.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), Lokesh B Jagalasar, a heated argument between the couple turned violent. Shamshuddin allegedly strangled Asha during the fight. He then transported her body on a bike and disposed of it in the garbage truck before fleeing.
Police continue to investigate further.
