The Hassan constituency will be contested by the JD(S)

In the runup to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has as much of an internal problem as it does in contesting against the Indian National Congress (INC). The ticket distribution has resulted in a number of disgruntled leaders. Preetham Gowda from Hassan happens to be one such leader. Reports suggest that he was taken to task by former Chief Minister B.S Yediyurappa. 

The Hassan constituency will be contested by the Janata Dal (Secular) JD(S) as a part of the alliance. In the 2019 election however, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda had passed snide remarks at Preetham Gowda and asked the people of Hassan to elect Swaroop instead of him. The equation between them is not conducive for campaigning. Preetam Gowda has stated that were Deve Gowda to come to his house along with his family and ask for his endorsement, he would be willing to provide it. B.S Yediyurappa is said to have contacted Preetham to provide some advice. 

Kiran Kumar who is a close friend of Preetham is also rumoured to enter the fray as an independent candidate. Yediyurappa apparently conveyed to Preetham Gowda that the victory of Narendra Modi should be the foremost priority.
