Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Private bus ticket prices witness surge in Karnataka ahead of polling on 26th April

    14 Lok Sabha constituencies will have polling on 26th April

    Tickets for buses to Mangaluru are priced in range of Rs 1600-1950

    70 additional buses will be headed to Hassan

The first phase of elections in Karnataka will take place on April 26th. 14 Lok Sabha constituencies will have polling on the day. This will result in increased travel to other parts of Karnataka from Bengaluru. The demand for private buses has thus seen a spike. Buses headed to Hassan, Mandya, Chitradurga, Mangaluru, Udupi, Chikmagaluru and Mysuru are being sought. There is an increase in 300 buses in comparison to the usual number of buses headed to the Karavali region. Owners of private buses have been getting requests from various political leaders. This has also resulted in an increase in the price of tickets. A doubling of prices has been witnessed. Despite the increase in prices, all the seats have been filled in the buses.

The tickets for buses to Mangaluru are priced in the range of Rs 1600 to Rs 1950 as opposed to Rs 500 to Rs 1000 under normal circumstances. 350 additional buses will be headed to Mangaluru on 25th April, a day before the polling. Tickets to Hassan are priced in the Rs 1200 to Rs 1600. Under normal circumstances, the tickets are priced in the range of Rs 650 to Rs 850. 70 additional buses will be headed to Hassan on April 25th.
