A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed with regard to Rs 2 crore being seized in the Cottonpet region of Bengaluru. The Police has informed officials of the Income Tax (IT) Department and initiated investigations. The source for this cash is being traced. A complaint was filed by Ravi Assothi, an officer of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

A Volksvagen car was headed towards Binnipete at 4:05 P.M on 21st April. 2 bags consisting of cash were found inside the car. The people inside the car have been identified as Venkatesh Prasad and Gangadhar. They admitted that they were working on the behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). They even furnished a letter from the BJP. The letter mentions a withdrawal of Rs 5 crore from a bank. They have admitted that the money was to be split among workers in the Mysuru-Kodagu, Chamarajanagar and Dakshina Kannada districts. They were handed over to the Cottonpet Police by officials of the ECI.
