Now, with Lok Sabha elections just a few weeks away, it has tried duplicating such promises. The grand old party has promised that it would gift cellphones to students studying from std 9 to 12 so that they can use the phones to study better and perform better in the exams.
It has also promised that it would take steps to provide free Wi-Fi in all colleges.
Party faces opposition
While the party hopes that it can cash in on such promises, it has only drawn flak from many parents as they feel handing over cellphones to students of the said age would only be antithetical to its purported use. They complain that students of the said ages may be tempted to use the phones for purposes not intended.
