Fourteen-year-old Divyanshi, a Class 9 student with dreams of becoming a veterinary doctor, was among the 11 people killed in the tragic stampede at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium during RCB’s IPL victory celebration. The young girl, who also adored Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar, had her life cut short in the chaos that unfolded during the event.

Speaking to NewsFirst Prime, her grief-stricken mother recalled, “She loved animals and wanted to become a vet. She was full of life and used to sing Puneeth’s songs. We never imagined this celebration would take her away from us.”

The stampede occurred as massive crowds surged to witness the team’s first-ever IPL trophy celebration. Overcrowding, lack of proper crowd control, and mismanagement are being cited as possible reasons behind the tragedy.

The Karnataka High Court has taken suo moto cognizance of the incident and has raised questions about the state government’s preparedness and responsibility. The court’s intervention signals the seriousness of the issue, with demands growing for accountability and answers.

As the state mourns, stories like Divyanshi’s have left the public heartbroken. A child with dreams, gone too soon — her name now etched in a tragedy that has shaken Bengaluru and raised hard questions about safety at public events.
