Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced that the film The Sabarmati Report, which depicts the 2002 Godhra train burning incident, will be tax-free in the state.

Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, the film stars Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna, and Ridhi Dogra. It chronicles the tragic events of February 27, 2002, when a coach of the Sabarmati Express was set ablaze near Godhra station in Gujarat, an act that triggered widespread communal violence.

Yadav encouraged ministers and lawmakers to view the film, stating, "This is a dark chapter in our history. Watching this film will help reveal the truth to more people." The Chief Minister also highlighted that the tax exemption aims to make the film accessible to a larger audience.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have also praised the film on social media. Modi commended the effort to present the truth to the public, noting, “A fake narrative can persist only for a limited time. Facts will always come out.” Shah lauded the film's courage in confronting a "powerful ecosystem" and uncovering the truth.

Despite a dip in box office earnings, the film's total collection in India stands at ₹7.45 crore.
