Case was booked under bailable sections

SIT added Section 376 at a later stage

Revanna was asked to furnish bond worth Rs 5 Lakh

The former Public Works Department (PWD) Minister H.D Revanna has been granted bail by the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Court in relation to a sexual assault case filed against him in the Holenarasipura Police Station. He was asked to furnish a bond worth Rs 5 Lakh along with the surety of an individual. The case was heard by Judge Preeth J.

The case was filed by H.D Revanna’s domestic maid. He requested a conditional bail under Section 436 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC). The Special Investigation Team (SIT) argued that it is not applicable in this case. However the case was booked under bailable sections. The court granted H.D Revanna an interim bail. The SIT added Section 376 in the case at a later stage. The court heard both sides before giving a verdict.

The SIT requested for an opportunity to present its arguments while the verdict was scheduled to be delivered but was, however, denied this by the court. The court also provided directions to ensure that the surety procedure to be followed.
