At least 10 people are feared dead and dozens injured after a stampede broke out at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, early Wednesday. Rescue Operations Underway
Emergency teams rushed to the site to assist the injured and retrieve those trapped in the crush. Many of the injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals, with authorities working to manage the chaos and ensure safety at the ghats.

History of Stampedes at Kumbh Mela
Stampedes have marred Kumbh Mela events in the past. In 1954, a tragedy during Mauni Amavasya claimed nearly 800 lives in Allahabad. In 1986, a stampede in Haridwar left 200 dead after crowd mismanagement. Similarly, incidents in Nashik (2003) and Allahabad (2013) resulted in dozens of deaths due to overcrowding and infrastructural failures.

Growing Concerns Over Crowd Control
The Maha Kumbh, the largest religious gathering globally, continues to face challenges in managing massive crowds despite previous tragedies. The latest incident highlights the urgent need for improved crowd control measures to ensure the safety of millions attending this revered event.
