Prayagraj is set to witness an unprecedented spiritual gathering as the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 draws to a grand close with the final Amrit Snan on Wednesday, coinciding with Mahashivratri. More than one crore devotees are expected to take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.

Since its commencement on January 13, the Maha Kumbh has seen an astonishing turnout of nearly 64 crore pilgrims, making it the largest congregation in human history. The five previous Amrit Snans—held on January 13, 14, 29, and February 3 and 12—witnessed massive participation, and the final one is expected to be no different.
With an overwhelming influx of devotees heading to Prayagraj, the Uttar Pradesh government has put in place extensive security and logistical measures. Special arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth bathing experience, with Phaphamau Ghat designated for pilgrims from Lucknow and Pratapgarh, while Arail Ghat will cater to visitors from Rewa, Banda, Chitrakoot, and Mirzapur.
As trains, flights, and roads leading to Prayagraj remain packed, authorities are working round the clock to manage the enormous crowd. The final Amrit Snan is set to mark a spiritual crescendo, reinforcing the Maha Kumbh’s legacy as the world’s largest religious festival.
