The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj is set to commence on January 13 and run until February 26, drawing millions of devotees to the Triveni Sangam for spiritual and cultural activities. With just days to go, preparations are in full swing for what is expected to be the largest religious gathering globally, with an anticipated 40-45 crore pilgrims attending.

The Uttar Pradesh government, along with private entities, has made extensive arrangements for the event. The Adani Group and ISKCON will provide 'Mahaprasad' to over 50 lakh devotees, Western Railway has decorated special trains for attendees, and the state has launched a dedicated channel, 'Kumbhvani,' to provide real-time updates on the event.
The Mahakumbh Mela is not only a spiritual spectacle but also an economic powerhouse for Uttar Pradesh. With a budget of ₹6,382 crore, including ₹5,600 crore allocated for infrastructure and event management, the Mela is expected to generate a revenue of ₹25,000 crore for the state. The event spans 4,000 hectares, showcasing a significant scale of planning and investment.
Historically, the Kumbh Mela has had notable economic impact, dating back to 1882 when it recorded profits of ₹29,612. The 2025 Maha Kumbh continues this legacy, demonstrating the enduring cultural and economic significance of this grand event.
