In a recurring pattern, Mahadevapura has once again emerged as the leading COVID-19 hotspot in Bengaluru, recording the highest number of positive cases this week. Despite no significant increase in testing rates, the number of infections continues to rise, indicating a persistent spread of the virus in certain zones.

According to the latest data, Mahadevapura reported 16 new positive cases, followed closely by Bengaluru South with 14 cases. Bengaluru East recorded 13 cases, while the West zone saw 10 new infections. Bommanahalli reported 7 cases, Yelahanka 4, and Bengaluru Central 5. Dasarahalli and RR Nagar had the lowest numbers, with just 1 case each.
Health officials have expressed concern over the consistent rise in cases in Mahadevapura and South Bengaluru, urging citizens to follow preventive measures strictly. The unchanged testing volume raises worries that actual infections might be underreported in other zones.
Experts suggest more localized containment efforts and awareness drives to mitigate the spread. “Even without ramping up testing, the surge in cases is evident. This indicates sustained community transmission,” a health department official said.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is expected to review containment strategies in the worst-affected zones and may consider targeted restrictions if the trend continues.
Residents are advised to maintain caution, wear masks, and avoid large gatherings.
