Maharaja first look poster released

The poster of Maharaja, which would mark Tamil superstar Vijay Sethupathi’s 50th film was released by Vijay Sethupathi’s Instagram handle. The post had received 305,714 likes and 1131 comments within a day. The film would also star Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, and Natarajan Subramaniam. Bharathiraja, Abhirami, Munishkanth Arul Doss, Boys Manikandan, Singam Puli, Vinod Sagar, and PL Thenappan. 

The poster has Vijay Sethupathi with a bloodied bandage draped around his head. He is holding a sickle in one hand. He is seen sitting in a chair similar to the ones found in barber shops. A broken wall is seen in the background. A bunch of police officers are seen being mute spectators of Vijay Sethupathi. 

The film is being directed by Nithilan Swaminathan whose debut Kurangu Bommai was received well by critics and was also richly textured in terms of the technique with which the shots were taken and the character detailing. The music for the film is being given by Ajaneesh Loknath who had also given the music for Korangu Bommai. The film would be a tale of revenge and that Vijay Sethupathi would be seen in 2 roles. The tagline of the film “what goes around comes around” offers some hints. 

The film's producer Sudhan had said, “It was a surprise even for us to learn that ours will be Vijay Sethupathi's 50th film. He is playing a unique role in this film, a revenge drama, and will have two looks,” as per a report in The Newstuff.
