In a major development for the 600,000 daily commuters of Bengaluru's Kempegowda Bus Station (Majestic), a much-awaited revamp of the key transit hub has begun.
The facelift is being jointly carried out by the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) at an estimated cost of Rs 3.5 crore. The work, which started on December 10, 2024, is expected to be completed by May 2025.

The renovation addresses long-standing passenger concerns and aims to enhance the station’s amenities. Waiting lounges, toilets, and the airport bus lounge will be renovated, while extensive repair work includes patching, flooring, and ceiling repairs. BMTC is managing pavement improvements and roofing, including upgrades to the airport bus lounge roof. Platform tiles, paintings, and the platform roof will also be replaced.
The last renovation of the Majestic terminal was a decade ago, and this overhaul will provide commuters with better comfort and accessibility. BMTC will contribute nearly Rs 1.4 crore toward the project.
Strategically located near the KSRTC terminal, Namma Metro interchange, and opposite the KSR Bengaluru Railway Station, Majestic serves as a vital transport hub. The work is progressing smoothly with most of the major tasks completed, including the concrete laying and road repairs. The final steps will involve finishing tasks and streetlight installation, all while ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations.
