The allegations were made in a Facebook post on Monday, where Muneer also named actors Maniyanpilla Raju and Idavela Babu, accusing them of physical and verbal abuse on the set of a 2013 movie. “In 2013, I was subjected to physical and verbal abuse by these individuals while working on a project. I tried to cooperate and continue working, but the abuse became unbearable,” she wrote. The harassment ultimately forced her to leave the Malayalam film industry and relocate to Chennai.
Muneer had initially spoken out in a newspaper article but is now seeking justice and accountability for the trauma she endured. “I am now seeking justice and accountability for the trauma and suffering I endured. I request your assistance in taking action against them for their heinous actions,” she added.
These allegations surfaced a day after director Ranjith and actor Siddique resigned from the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) following similar accusations. The industry continues to grapple with widespread revelations of misconduct.
