A 51-year-old man, Akram Ahmed belonging to Male, Maldives was travelling via an IndiGo flight from Maldives to Bengaluru on August 18th. Flight No. 6E 1128 departed from the Velana International Airport at 3:48 pm. Akram Ahmed was seated in 38 D.

He asked the flight attendant for beer and cashew nuts. When she brought it over to him, he is said to have remarked,“I have been looking for a girl like you for the last 51 years. How much do you charge for service and when will you be free?” as per a report in the New Indian Express. He then handed the attendant a $100 bill and asked her to keep the change from his order amounting to $10. While doing so, he is alleged to have also touched her inappropriately.

Later on, when another flight attendant approached him to ask him to pay for what he had ordered to eat, he is said to have reached out to his pocket to pay and in due course made an obscene gesture. An FIR has been filed under relevant sections of 354 and 409 of the IPC.
