The incident took place on March 26, when a dispute between the couple turned violent. According to police reports, their frequent quarrels, mainly over financial issues and Gauri’s unemployment, had been a persistent source of tension. During their final confrontation, Gauri allegedly attacked Rakesh with a knife after he slapped her. In retaliation, he fatally stabbed her multiple times.

In an attempt to cover up the crime, Rakesh placed Gauri’s body inside a suitcase and left it in the bathroom of their Bengaluru home before fleeing. Police launched an investigation after discovering the body and tracked his movements, leading to his arrest in Pune.

Authorities are examining the case to determine if the crime was premeditated, considering Rakesh’s prior complaints about his wife. The shocking murder has once again highlighted the dangers of domestic disputes spiraling into violence. Rakesh remains in police custody as further investigations continue.
