A 30-year-old man from Beijing, known by his surname Yuan, is gaining widespread attention for using his luxury Mercedes-Maybach S480 as a ride-hailing vehicle. Operating under the social media handle “Old Yuan drives a Maybach for ride-hailing”, he has built a following of nearly 120,000 people by documenting his unique journey. Yuan, originally from Henan province, entered the luxury ride-hailing business in 2019 and bought the Maybach in November last year for 1.55 million yuan (around Rs 1.80 crore).

In a recent video, Yuan shared that he earned Rs 4000 yuan (about Rs 46,000) in a single day by starting early and driving pre-booked clients. His focus remains on quality service rather than high volume, completing around 40 rides a month, with some individual trips earning him over 5,000 yuan (Rs 58,600) per day. He financed the vehicle with a five-year loan, paying monthly EMIs of 14,466 yuan (Rs 1.7 lakh), and had made a down payment of 680,000 yuan, most of which came from his personal savings.
Despite significant expenses, including fuel, food, and rent, Yuan claims he is able to save nearly 10,000 yuan (Rs 1.1 lakh) every month. His story has stirred mixed reactions online, with many curious about his financial standing and impressed by his lifestyle.
