The incident triggered a wave of public anger, prompting swift action from the police department. Initially, three traffic police officers present during the incident were suspended. Later, Mandya Superintendent of Police (SP) Mallikarjuna Baladandi confirmed the suspension of six police personnel, including three Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) – Nagaraju, Jayaram, and Gurudev – and three accompanying staff.

Authorities have launched an internal investigation, and the suspended officers have been asked to submit a detailed preliminary report.

“We are taking this case seriously. If any officer is found guilty, strict action will follow. We will also ensure appropriate compensation is provided to the grieving family,” said Additional SP Gangadharaswamy.

Following assurances from police officials, the protesting family members ended their agitation and proceeded with the child’s postmortem at Mandya MIMS Hospital.

The tragedy has raised serious questions about traffic management and emergency response in the region, with calls for accountability and preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
