The tragedy claimed the life of Prema Poojari, while rescue operations are in progress to save a mother and her two children still trapped inside. According to officials, teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are actively working at the scene, employing all available resources to reach the victims.
A heart-wrenching video shared with NewsFirst Prime captures the desperate cries of the mother holding her child under the rubble, with one child waving their hands while the other lies motionless beside them. The mother’s frantic calls for help highlight the urgency of the rescue operation.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, Santosh Kumar, confirmed the incident and shared that the trapped family members are Prema, Ashwini, Aryan, and Anush. “We can currently see the mother and one child, and our team is communicating with them to facilitate rescue. We had warned households in the area about potential landslides. The operation may take another 1-2 hours,” he said.
Continuous rain and unstable terrain have made the rescue operation extremely challenging. Authorities are urging residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious.
