The ongoing Kumbh Mela has triggered severe traffic congestion, leaving thousands stranded for hours—some even for days—on major routes. The situation is particularly dire in Prayagraj and Bihar’s Kaimur district, where National Highway-19 remains clogged with vehicles.

With crores of devotees flocking to the religious gathering, the roads are overwhelmed, and emergency services like ambulances are struggling to get through. Despite the local administration’s efforts to manage the traffic, long jams persist, worsening the ordeal for travelers.
Many passengers have been stuck in gridlock for over 72 hours, while some train travelers reported being stranded at the same location for eight hours.
Travellers travelling from Asansol to Chandauli, recounted how they were stuck for three days, at one point unable to move an inch for eight straight hours. Frustrated, they questioned the cause of the massive delay.
Truck drivers have also been badly affected. One driver en route from Kolkata to Delhi said he had been stranded for three days and could have reached his destination had it not been for the jam.
With no immediate relief in sight, the traffic chaos continues, testing the patience of thousands of commuters.
