Watch ‘Matka’ teaser: Varun Tej shines as matka king; Nora Fatehi steals spotlight

The much-awaited teaser of Karuna Kumar's upcoming film Matka was released on Saturday in Vijayawada at G3 Theatres. Starring Varun Tej, Nora Fatehi, and Meenakshi Chaudhary in lead roles, the period drama has already created a buzz with its gripping visuals and intriguing plot.

Varun Tej, who plays the protagonist Vasu, is seen in various stages of life, from a young man to an ageing Matka King. The teaser opens with Sai Kumar, playing a jailer, who advises Vasu to rise above his struggles and join the elite controlling global wealth. Fueled by ambition, Vasu sets out on a journey of power, wealth, and control, leading to his transformation into a feared Matka King.

While the teaser keeps much of the plot under wraps, it promises an engaging story of Vasu’s rise in the world of illegal gambling, with glimpses of his transition over time. Nora Fatehi and Meenakshi Chaudhary make brief appearances, captivating viewers, though their roles remain mysterious.

Directed by Karuna Kumar and produced by Dr Vijayender Reddy Teegala and Rajani Thalluri, Matka features stunning visuals of Vizag and nods to cultural nostalgia. With GV Prakash Kumar composing the music, the film is slated for release on November 14. Expectations are high, as Karuna’s previous hits, Palasa 1978 and Sridevi Soda Center, have set a strong precedent.
