E-commerce platform Meesho is under scrutiny after it was found selling T-shirts featuring images of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, described in some listings as “The Real Hero.”

In response to the backlash, Meesho quickly removed the T-shirts from its website and issued a statement emphasizing its commitment to providing a safe shopping environment. A spokesperson for the company stated, “We have taken immediate action to deactivate the products. Meesho remains committed to providing a safe and trusted shopping platform for all our users.”

Jafri's initial post highlighted the alarming trend of gangster merchandise being sold online, criticizing platforms like Meesho and Teeshopper for contributing to what he termed “India's latest online radicalization.” The T-shirts, priced as low as Rs 166, featured not only Bishnoi but also other infamous criminals.

Social media reactions included strong denunciations, with one user declaring, “Shame on Meesho and similar websites.” Another noted the danger of encouraging youth to idolize gangsters. As the debate continues, concerns grow over the implications of such merchandise in the context of rising gang-related violence in India.
