Gone are the days when actresses only had a limited time for their journey before they retired. The actresses of the present generation not only shine on the silver screen but also exemplify entrepreneurial acumen, setting benchmarks for success. With the abundance of talented actresses in the industry, it comes as no surprise that they can wear more than one hat.

Some of the A-listers today are extremely successful entrepreneurs too. Other than entertaining their fans with their diverse roles in a different genre of films, there are businesses run by these wonderful women. These actresses are unstoppable and have turned out to be successful entrepreneurs.

Nayantara

Known as much for headlining powerful and commercially successful women-centric films as for her stylish pairings opposite top actors, Nayanthara’s 20-year journey in the film industry has seen her evolve from a Malayalam TV anchor to ‘Lady Superstar’, entrepreneur, investor and brand ambassador. Nayantara has her own film production house Rowdy Pictures bankrolled the critically acclaimed Tamil film Koozhangal. She has her own The Lip Balm Company which boasts as the biggest lip balm brand with about a hundred flavours. She’s also invested in Chennai-based start-up Chai Wale. Her business has also gathered pace, with the couple collaborating with professionals to launch skincare brand 9Skin, sanitary napkins brand Femi9, and investing in super foods brand The Divine Foods. 

She is pushing her career even further by entering the lucrative crude oil business. According to sources, the actress is planning to invest a hundred crore in a firm in UAE. Though she has never opened about it, she’s surely aiming to be a serious business tycoon.

Tamannaah Bhatia

Apart from her acting career, Tamannaah has pursued various other endeavours. She has her own jewellery brand, "Wite & Gold", where she herself designs them. She’s also an equity partner in Sugar Cosmetics. This apart, she’s even authored a book, ‘Back To The Roots’. 

Samantha Ruth Prabhu

This self-made actress has been very wise with her investments. She owns a direct-to-consumer ethnic fashion cloth line Saaki. Prabhu has also invested in Hyderabad based superfood Nourish You and Sustainkart which focuses on offering products to revamp households. The actor, who ventured into entrepreneurship during the pandemic and is even known for being philanthropic, has now floated her own production house too.

Rashmika Mandanna

Rashmika Mandanna shot to fame with her performances in hits like "Geetha Govindam" and "Pushpa." With an estimated net worth of approximately Rs 50 crore, the actress has joined Plum as an investor, brand ambassador, and supporter.

Alia Bhat

This yummy mummy who is on the top of her career graph, has wisely invested in many start-ups like Ed-a-mamma, Nykaa and StyleCracker. Bhatt has designed her own clothing line for women for the online fashion portal Jabong.com. She launched her own line of handbags for VIP Industries. Ed-a-mamma is an exclusive maternity and children's clothing brand. As of July 2023, the company has an estimated valuation of ₹1.5 billion, in September last year, Reliance Retail acquired a majority stake of 51% in the company.

Apart from this, Alia Bhatt has her own production company named Eternal Sunshine Productions. Seems like a beauty with brains, ain’t it?

Sara Ali Khan

Sara Ali Khan has become an equity partner in The Souled Store, a casual wear and pop-culture apparel brand, in addition to contributing sweat equity. She views the company as the ideal one to invest in because she is an avid pop-culture fan and a firm believer that comfort and originality are just as essential as fashion.

Deepika Padukone

This diva is a brilliant entrepreneur, from having her website for her online closet where people can buy clothes from her collection to an online diary, you name it, she has it! Deepika’s own clothing label All About You is one of the top brands on Myntra. She also runs her foundation – Live, Love, Laugh to support and normalize mental health. Other than that, Deepika has been an active investor in a plethora of start-up enterprises such as Epigamia – a yoghurt brand, Purplle- a beauty products brand to name a few. She also has a production house called Ka productions.

Malaika Arora Khan

This ageless diva is a fitness enthusiast and her style game is always on point. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that she owns her own yoga studio DivaYoga and has turned into a yoga entrepreneur. Some might even call it a passion project that took shape. She is also a part of the e-commerce clothing website – The Label Life where she has joined hands with Bipasha Basu and Sussanne Khan. She curates the clothing line for the brand. She’s truly more than just a supermodel.
