Sonam Raghuvanshi, a newlywed from Indore, has been accused of orchestrating the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon trip in Meghalaya. Police sources say Sonam was so determined to carry out the crime that she planned to push Raja off a mountain herself if the hired men failed to do so.

The murder plot reportedly began shortly after Sonam returned to her maternal home on May 15, just four days after the wedding. From Indore, she booked tickets to Guwahati and coordinated the plan with her suspected lover and co-conspirator, Raj Kushwaha, over several phone calls.

To delay physical intimacy and buy time for the plan to unfold, Sonam allegedly persuaded Raja to first visit the Kamakhya temple, presenting the detour as a sign of respect. The couple later proceeded to Meghalaya, checking out of a homestay in Nongriat village on May 23.

Raja’s body was found ten days later in a deep gorge around 20 kilometres away. According to the police, three men—Vishal Singh Chauhan (22), Akash Rajput (19), and Anand Kurmi—were responsible for the murder. The trio are reportedly friends of Raj Kushwaha and were allegedly hired by Sonam to carry out the killing.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.
