In a bold move, KSRTC-BMTC United Employees Union has announced a unique protest strategy to push the government for their long-pending demands. Scheduled for June 1, the transport workers plan to distribute free tickets exclusively to men as part of their Gandhigiri-style agitation, signaling a new wave of peaceful but firm protest.

The union is urging the government to swiftly address their key demands, which include implementing the 2024 pay revision applicable to all employees, clearing pending payments for 38 months, and withdrawing all cases filed against workers during the 2020-21 protests. Despite multiple meetings and pressure tactics, including discussions with the Chief Minister, the government is yet to arrive at a consensus.
The internal rift between two separate employee groups has complicated the situation further, delaying any government decision. The union warns that if the state government fails to call a meeting and finalize the demands by May 31, over 4,000 workers across Karnataka will join the protest.
Union President KR Vijay Kumar has appealed to all employees to stand united and support the one-day bandh. He emphasized that the protest is a last resort after months of unsuccessful negotiations.
This fresh demonstration, with its focus on free tickets for men, aims to highlight the workers' plight and pressure the government to act swiftly. As the countdown to June 1 begins, all eyes are on the government’s response to this crucial demand.
