The Metro Mitra application, an initiative by the Bengaluru Autorickshaw Drivers Union (ARDU) would be launched on September 6th. On a trial basis, the Jayanagara Metro Station would first be the location wherein the application would be put into use. Metro Mitra aims to provide last mile connectivity across metro passengers hence playing their part in the wider push towards the use of public transport. This would also be a solution to the overcharging of passengers that many have witnessed by auto drivers stationed outside metro stations. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has also been roped into this initiative. Access to Metro Mitra can be sought from the BMRCL Whatsappp chatbot (8105556677).

Plans were also in place to enable the usage of Metro Mitra through PayTM. The charges in Metro Mitra would be the fare price as per the metre along with Rs 10 which are collected as part of the pick up and data charges.

The ARDU has claimed to have tasted success with the launch of Namma Yatri which had brought them returns of more than Rs 70 crore in the first 8 months of being put into use. They have high expectations from Metro Mitra as well considering the emergence of new stations along the Whitefield corridor.
