In a startling and emotional case that has left the public and police in disbelief, Bengaluru has witnessed a modern-day Robin Hood. This story is nothing short of any movie! The Byadarahalli police have arrested a notorious house burglar who, instead of hoarding his stolen wealth, used the money to pay school and college fees for 20 underprivileged children.

The accused, identified as Shivu alias Shivarappan, a resident of Begur, was the mastermind behind a gang of burglars that included his friends Anil alias Jagga and Vivek. Shivu, who lives alone and has no family of his own, was reportedly on the verge of suicide. However, witnessing the struggles of his friends and neighbors to pay their children’s education fees pushed him to take a drastic and illegal route.
Shivu began robbing houses across Bengaluru, including several in the Byadarahalli area. He and his accomplices sold stolen gold, amounting to Rs 22 lakh, in Tamil Nadu. From this, Vivek and Anil were given Rs 4 lakh each to buy autos, while Shivu used the remaining Rs 14 lakh to cover educational costs for 20 children.
During interrogation, Shivu shocked police officers with his unapologetic attitude. He declared that he was not afraid of prison and would continue stealing after his release, aiming to pay the fees of more than 100 children. This declaration has raised both eyebrows and debates across the city — some see him as a misguided hero, while others argue crime cannot be justified, regardless of the intention.
The story highlights deep-rooted social issues and the moral complexities surrounding crime, intention, and justice in today’s urban India.
