A thick blanket of clouds has enveloped Bengaluru today, as the city gears up for a significant spell of rainfall. The cloud cover over Bengaluru is part of a larger weather pattern affecting Karnataka. Coastal regions such as Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Uttara Kannada are already facing heavy rainfall, and the monsoon’s impact is steadily expanding.

The IMD has issued a red alert for Chikkamagaluru district for the next two days, highlighting potential risks of landslides and local flooding, particularly in areas like Mudigere, Sringeri, Koppa, and Kalasa. Coastal areas are experiencing rising sea levels and rough conditions, while in Bengaluru, rains are expected to intensify as the day progresses.

Strong winds accompanying the rain may pose risks such as uprooted trees and waterlogging in low-lying urban areas. The authorities have urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel and to remain vigilant for updates from local disaster management teams.

The IMD has also predicted strong winds and heavy rain for the coastal districts, including Dakshina Kannada, within the next three hours. The coastal monsoon is expected to increase in intensity, while Bengaluru’s residents brace for a wet week ahead.
