Bengaluru witnessed a series of alarming tree fall incidents early Tuesday morning, triggered by persistent rainfall and waterlogged soil, leading to significant property damage across different localities. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The first incident occurred around 5:30 AM near Coffee Board Junction on Cunningham Road, where a massive tree collapsed onto the road. The fall obstructed traffic movement and posed a safety risk to early commuters. BBMP teams rushed to the spot to clear the debris and restore the traffic flow.
A more severe incident took place at Horamavu near Kalkere village around 7:15 AM. A gigantic 50-year-old Arali tree toppled due to softened soil, crashing down on a parked car. In addition to the car, two motorcycles and another vehicle sustained damage. The impact also brought down power lines and caused damage to a nearby temple and petty shop. Traffic was heavily disrupted as the tree lay across a narrow road, and BBMP workers began clearance operations immediately. Despite the extent of damage, there were no injuries reported, thanks to the early hour and low pedestrian movement.
The third incident occurred behind SLV Hotel in Ragigudda, where a tree fell directly onto a parked car. The force of the fall left the car damaged, though no one was inside at the time. This incident, too, was linked to the wet ground from days of rainfall weakening the roots of old trees.
These repeated incidents highlight the urgent need for proactive urban tree assessments and better drainage infrastructure to prevent such occurrences during the monsoon.
