Dr. Manjunath, who is also a renowned cardiologist, has observed a steady increase in heart-related ailments in the state over recent years. To address this, he has urged both the central and state governments to jointly form a dedicated committee to study the root causes and devise preventive measures.
Emphasizing the urgent need for a systematic approach, Dr. Manjunath has called for the Union Ministry of Health to conduct a comprehensive special study to understand why more people are falling prey to cardiac diseases. He believes this will help design effective public awareness campaigns and guide policy decisions for better cardiac care infrastructure.
To take this issue forward, Dr. Manjunath has personally prepared a detailed report highlighting the rising trend, possible risk factors, and the need for immediate intervention. He plans to submit this report to Prime Minister Modi soon, hoping it will prompt swift action and resource allocation for tackling cardiovascular diseases in Karnataka and beyond.
Health experts have welcomed this proactive step, pointing out that increased awareness, early screening, and lifestyle changes are key to curbing the silent epidemic of heart disease.
