In a move that could delight Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans, MS Dhoni has suggested he may continue his Indian Premier League (IPL) career well into 2025 and beyond. Speaking at a promotional event, the 43-year-old legend expressed his intention to stay in peak physical shape to play cricket for the “next few years,” indicating he might play not just in IPL 2025 but potentially across the entire upcoming three-year cycle.

“I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I am able to play,” Dhoni shared, acknowledging the challenge of maintaining a professional commitment while rediscovering the enjoyment of the game. “When you play cricket like a professional sport, it becomes difficult to enjoy it just like a game,” he said. “The emotions keep coming, the commitments are there. I want to enjoy the game for the next few years.”
Currently, Dhoni has passed CSK's captaincy to young star Ruturaj Gaikwad for IPL 2024, yet he remains a pivotal figure for the franchise. Addressing the physical demands of the league, Dhoni said, “I have to keep myself fit for nine months, so that I can play two and a half months of IPL. You need to plan it out, but at the same time chill a bit.”
As quoted by The Times of India, Dhoni’s intention to keep playing is a promising sign for both CSK and IPL fans.
