In a major development in the Muda scam case, the Special Court for People’s Representatives has ordered the Lokayukta to continue its investigation and submit a final report by May 7. The court declined to pass any order on the B report filed earlier, which had cleared Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his wife, and two others.

The B report, which had initially sought to drop charges against key accused, including the CM, has now come under scrutiny. The court stated that it will take a decision on the report only after the Lokayukta completes the investigation of the remaining accused. The Enforcement Directorate has also been allowed to file a petition challenging the B report.
This move is seen as a serious blow to CM Siddaramaiah, who is already under pressure over the allegations. The court’s order came after Lokayukta officials themselves sought permission to continue the investigation, which the court granted.
Muda scam complainant Snehamayi Krishna reacted strongly, accusing the government of trying to prematurely close the case to protect the CM’s family. “Today’s court order is a slap on the face of the government. The CM should resign and face the investigation,” he said, vowing to pursue the matter with documentary evidence.
The political fallout is expected to intensify in the coming days.
