Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar addressed the media today, responding to the recent developments involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. TJ Abraham has sought permission from the Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot to prosecute the Chief Minister, which has prompted swift action.
On the same day, the Governor issued a notice to CM Siddaramaiah, asking him to clarify the allegations and explain why permission should not be granted for his prosecution. The allegations involve CM Siddaramaiah and his kin in relation to site allocations under the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
The Governor has set a seven-day deadline for the Chief Minister to respond to the notice. This request for prosecution comes despite the fact that the matter is currently under judicial investigation. The Governor’s notice has escalated the issue, putting additional pressure on CM Siddaramaiah to address the allegations publicly and legally.
During the media briefing, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar emphasized the ongoing judicial investigation into the matter. He urged that the due process of law be allowed to continue without interference. "We respect the judiciary's role in this investigation and believe that the truth will prevail through proper legal channels," Shivakumar stated.
He also added that they would meet the governor in this regard and present their side of the story.
