Saudi Arabia has embarked on the construction of an extraordinary $50-billion megastructure in Riyadh, known as The Mukaab. Expected to become one of the largest buildings in the world, the Mukaab is designed as a 1,300-foot high and 1,200-foot wide cube, capable of housing the equivalent of 20 Empire State Buildings within its expansive 2 million square meters of floor space.

This futuristic city-in-a-building concept will incorporate residential units, hotels, office spaces, and a wide range of retail, dining, and entertainment options. The structure’s design, inspired by Saudi Arabia’s cultural heritage, features the geometric Najdi architectural style, characterized by its cubical shape, mud-brick look, and traditional window designs. Additionally, the surrounding landscape is designed to resemble desert wadis, capturing the natural essence of the region.

A highlight of the Mukaab will be its advanced, AI-driven immersive experiences. Developers plan to install massive LED screens around the building’s exterior, similar to those seen on the Las Vegas Sphere, transforming the facade into a dynamic, visually engaging landmark. As part of the Saudi Vision 2030 initiative led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Mukaab aims to redefine urban living with a high-tech, culturally enriched environment that complements the Kingdom’s ambition to diversify its economy.
