In a fresh development in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, a Mumbai Magistrate Court has issued a notice to actress Rhea Chakraborty. The court has sought her response to the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) closure report filed in March 2025, which concluded that Rhea had no involvement in Sushant's death. Magistrate R.D. Chavan issued the notice, stating that the original informant or aggrieved party has a right to be heard. The next hearing is scheduled after confirmation of Rhea receiving the notice, with the court directing her to respond by August 12.

While the CBI report gives Rhea a clean chit, the court has left open the possibility for her to object or seek a re-investigation if she disagrees with the findings. In 2020, Rhea had filed a complaint against Sushant’s sisters, Meetu Singh and Priyanka Singh, and a doctor, alleging they facilitated the administration of psychotropic drugs without proper medical consultation. She claimed the prescriptions were forged and that Sushant had mental health issues like bipolar disorder, which were not treated properly.
Earlier this year, social media witnessed a campaign demanding an apology to Rhea after the CBI report cleared her. The case continues to evoke public attention, with the court now waiting for Rhea’s formal reply to the agency’s findings.
