Dinesh Phadnis known for his role as Inspector Fredricks, one among the five-person team that investigated crimes in the Television program CID, passed away at the age of 57 in Mumbai.
Dinesh was suffering from liver damage. Co-star Dayananad Shetty who played the role of Daya confirmed the news of his death at 12:08 AM on December 5th. He had earlier dismissed rumours of a heart attack. “Firstly, it wasn't a heart attack, it was liver damage, because of which he was immediately rushed to Tunga Hospital, Malad. For the last two days, he has been very critical. This morning (Sunday) I also learned that there's no major improvement. We're hoping he gets better soon,” he had said.
Dinesh was suffering from side effects caused by medicines he was consuming for another ailment. “Dinesh was getting treated for some other ailment but the medication affected his liver adversely. That's why it is always recommended to take medicines very carefully. You never know when the medicine that one is taking to treat something can cause another major ailment. One should be very careful regarding allopathic medicines,” Dayanand mentioned.
CID had aired for more than 20 years since January 1998. More than 5000 episodes of the show had been recorded making it one of the longest shows in Indian television history.
